Carnival of Thermal Sciences
Carnival of Thermal Sciences: Edition#1
Submitted by East Hit Professor on February 22, 2009 - 11:10pmHere comes the first edition of Carnival of Thermal Sciences.
You may expect the carnival to start with "serious" and "boring" links to posts on thermal sciences. However, I wish you to sign off this edition with a thought about the sorry state of affairs of higher education. That is why, for a change, we shall start with a cartoon- "Technical" talk by a "Top" Missile Scientist, and end with some food for thought.....
Well, Thermodynamics is the stepping stone of thermal sciences, and heat transfer is... is... what? One can understand the concept of heat transfer better, if an analogy is presented. We Indians (cricket crazy people) understand a concept better, if an analogy exists with respect to cricket. Ramanujam has blogged about such an anology.
Here is an interesting question: what would a thermometer say the temperature of [cold] space is? Exposing PseudoAstronomy exposes the answer here.
Bejan (not Daruwalla, I am talking about Adrian Bejan) has founded a new branch of constructal theory, which is explained here at ScienceBlog.
This edition will be incomplete if I do not mention the buzz word nanotechnology! Perhaps to popularise the nanotehnology, a blog has been started- notechnology Development Blog, which explains the concept of nanofluids.
Finally, one Mr. Aditya (I do not know who he is and where he is) wants the clerks to sit in the heat transfer classes, not the engineers! The way heat transfer is being taught in colleges has made him blog about Stinking Heat Transfer! I am sure that is how many more students will be feeling, but do not have the courage to open a blog and vent the anger!
Inaugural edition of Carnival of Thermal Sciences
Submitted by East Hit Professor on February 9, 2009 - 10:51pmThe inaugural edition of blog Carnival of Thermal Sciences is scheduled for February 22, 2009.
I urge the readers of this blog to submit blog posts on thermal sciences, via the carnival home page. The blog posts need not necessarily be written originally by the sender. However, if you write your own blog post for the carnival, it is fine.
What all you got to do is- if you find a blog post anywhere on the net, that fits the themal sciences tag, just go to the home page of carnival, click on "submit an article" and send me the link.
Announcing Blog Carnival of Thermal Sciences
Submitted by East Hit Professor on February 9, 2009 - 10:09pmHere comes my next venture: the new blog Carnival of Thermal Sciences.
I have plans to bring out the new editions of this carnival every month, subject to the response I receive.
Subsequently, the carnival may be hosted by other bloggers, who are interested in thermal sciences.
